Toxoplasma gondii is a ubiquitous zoonotic food-borne parasite [1]. Nearly one-third of the world’s population has been exposed to the parasite, with prevalence ranging from ~10% to 50% depending on the geographical area. Human infection is usually asymptomatic in immunocompetent individuals and may remain for life, but in immunocompromised persons, the infection might be fatal [2].
